Drum Tips - You too can be a Great Drummer!
You can be a great drummer! Learning to play the drums is not difficult. However, it does take a lot of TIME to develop skill through PRACTICE.
A great teacher cannot make you a great drummer. Only you can make yourself a great drummer.
BUT – a great teacher is essential in helping you learn what you need to be practicing.
A great teacher can quickly recognize problems in your playing – and help you fix the problems that are holding you back from playing the way you really want to be able to play.
You probably can not find a single great player out there in the world today that didn’t have some lessons along the way. Maybe with a great teacher, or maybe with a friend who was studying with a great teacher, or at least with good books, videos, tapes, etc..
The fact is – if you don’t want to study with a teacher, and put in the time practicing, you will NOT get the gig!
If your town has ONE great band and you want to be the drummer in that band – you better be the best drummer in town.
If there is another drummer in town who is taking lessons and practicing 2 or 3 hours a day – you need to be taking lessons and practicing 4 to 5 hours a day. If you want to be the best - you need to be willing to do what the others are not willing to do.
If you’re just starting to play, find yourself a great teacher, and mentally prepare yourself to spend a lot of hours – LOTS and LOTS of hours, dedicated to practicing what your teacher shows you.
You CAN become a successful and versatile player, you CAN be one of the best in the world!
